OKLAHOMA CITY – Overnight sub-freezing temperatures have once again forced delay in the opening of the Remington Park track. Therefore, morning training will be moved back another day to Thursday, Feb. 13. Remington Park director of racing Michael Shamburg announced the decision this morning.

Central Oklahoma is expected to experience a warming trend beginning today. As the temperatures rise, the Remington Park track maintenance team will be able to open the track for training. The hopeful opening time for Thursday is now 7am.

Thursday will also be the first day of training races as youthful horses gain valuable experience for their actual pari-mutuel racing debut. There are 13 training races set for Thursday, Feb. 13, starting at 11:30am. Another 12 training races will be conducted on Valentine’s Day Friday, Feb. 14, also starting at 11:30am.

The training races allow horsemen to prepare their athletes that have yet to make their first career start. The training race offers a simulated experience to what the horse will actually encounter when they take part in their pari-mutuel racing debut.

The 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season at Remington Park begins March 7 and continues thru June 1. Normal first post time will be 6pm nightly.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, to be run for the 73rd time on March 22, 2014.

Tracked by over 51,000 fans on Facebook and 5,000 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
