OKLAHOMA CITY – Another evening of sub-freezing temperatures has once more forced cancellation of the beginning of training races at Remington Park. The 13 races originally slated to run today have been moved to Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11:30am.

The dozen training races set for Friday, Feb. 14 are still on for an 11:30am start. The training, or schooling, races allow horsemen to prepare their athletes that have yet to make their first career start. The training race offers a simulated experience to what the horse will actually encounter when they take part in their pari-mutuel racing debut.

Remington Park director of racing Michael Shamburg announced the latest rescheduling situation for training and schooling races this morning.

The Remington Park track maintenance crew has been working the surface this morning and expects to open the track to accept horses for training this afternoon.

Temperatures in central Oklahoma are expected to reach into the 50s and 60s for the foreseeable future, ending the eight consecutive days of track closure. Remington Park had originally planned to begin training hours on Feb. 5.

The 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season at Remington Park begins March 7 and continues thru June 1.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, to be run for the 73rd time on March 22, 2014.

Tracked by over 51,000 fans on Facebook and 5,000 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
