OKLAHOMA CITY – Despite the week-long stretch of winter weather and temperatures below the freezing mark, Remington Park is still planning on getting the racing surface open for training on Wednesday, Feb. 12. However, the training races slated for that morning and Thursday, Feb. 13 have been moved back another day each due to the cold environs.

The Remington Park racing office produced entries for two days of training, or schooling races, this morning. There are 13 training races set for Thursday, Feb. 13 while another 12 will be conducted on Valentine’s Day Friday, Feb. 14. Training races are scheduled to begin at 11:30am each day. The new training race schedule was announced this morning by Remington Park director of racing Michael Shamburg.

A warming trend is forecast for central Oklahoma and Remington Park, with temperatures expected to climb high enough to conduct training races by Thursday. The training race allows horsemen to prepare their athletes that have yet to make their first career start. The training race offers a simulated experience to what the horse will actually encounter when they take part in their pari-mutuel racing debut.

Remington Park and central Oklahoma have experienced temperatures below the freezing-mark, with the exception of a few hours, since late Tuesday, Feb. 4. Remington Park was originally scheduled to open its track for training purposes on Feb. 5.

The 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season at Remington Park begins March 7 and continues thru June 1. Normal first post time will be 6pm nightly.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, to be run for the 73rd time on March 22, 2014.

Tracked by over 51,000 fans on Facebook and 5,000 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
