OKLAHOMA CITY – The first horses began arriving in the Remington Park Stable Area this morning at 5:30am. Trainers will continue to bring horses in throughout the rest of day.

The Remington Park racing surface was originally scheduled to open tomorrow, Wed., Feb. 5, but winter weather has delayed that event until Sunday, Feb. 9.

Trainer Tana Caldwell of Jones, Okla. was the first to pass through the Remington Park stable gate, bringing five horses on the grounds. The next trainer through the gate was Bonifacio Almanza, also of Jones. He brought 16 athletes with him.

Actual morning training will have to wait a few more days. More winter weather hit Remington Park and central Oklahoma today. There are more winter events forecast for the remainder of the week, forcing the beginning of morning training to be delayed until Sunday, Feb. 9.

At this time, the first day of training races is still set for Wednesday, Feb. 12.

The 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season at Remington Park begins March 7 and continues thru June 1. Normal first post time will be 6pm nightly.
